Top to bottom this mushroom has a robust meaty texture that can be cooked many ways, from a thick meaty scallop style to a soft shredded pulled pork texture.
The thicker you slice it the meatier your texture will be. If you like a softer mushroom texture slice it thinner and cook at a med low with a lid on your frying pan. It stands up to stewing, sauteing, stir-frying, and grilling, Becomes golden brown and nicely crisp when pan fried or grilled.
